Harvest Ball

The Tenth Annual Harvest Ball

Saturday, October 27, 2012

Rosen Plaza Hotel, Orlando from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Our gala, which is held in celebration of the many gifts of our residents who are adults diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is our largest fundraising event of the year. The 2012 Lifetime Legacy Award honorees are Kevin and Linda Shaughnessy.

Kevin and Linda Shaughnessy have been long-time advocates for Bishop Grady Villas, which supports persons with disabilities to use their God-given gifts to achieve greater independence, physical and emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth. The organization empowers these individuals from throughout Central Florida to reach their full potential through Christ-centered, personalized and wholistic residential, vocational and employment services, and community support. Kevin and Linda have participated in Bishop Grady Villas in many ways, including serving on the Board of Directors, funding Bishop Grady Villas’ Endowment Fund, sponsoring the Annual Harvest Ball, volunteering at Bishop Grady Villas, and even helping install handicap railings in our resident rooms. Kevin also has provided pro bono legal assistance and Linda has co-chaired the Harvest Ball for three years. They treasure working with and supporting our residents, and they are truly instruments of the Lord who believe in Bishop Grady Villas’ mission and the sanctity of life.

The ministry of Mr. and Mrs. Shaughnessy is making a difference in the lives of the people served by Bishop Grady Villas and their ability to become as self-sufficient as possible and less dependent on public assistance. Last year, staff and volunteers provided 24 hour – 365-day support to 52 individuals at the beautiful residential campus in St. Cloud. In addition to the organization’s residential services, vocational development services were provided to 17 individuals in our Adult Day Training program. Twenty-six paid on-the-job training opportunities were developed for those who live throughout Central Florida and 12 individuals were placed in permanent competitive employment opportunities at businesses in the community.

This year’s Harvest Ball, always a celebration of thanksgiving, includes a live and silent auction, performances by our residents, live entertainment and dancing, and a gourmet dining experience that is not to be missed.
